Description » The origins of Fattoria Mauritania can be traced quite far back in time. It used to be known as Antichi Poderi Garau - Impera Rossi, and already belonged to the present owner's grandfather in 1864 and before that to the Bishopric of Iglesias. The vineyard is situated in a place called Barrua, not far from Santadi. This area is renowned for the production of the Carignano grape and is very near the famous caves of "Is Zuddas".
Both local grapes, such as Carignano and Vermentino, and some that are rather rare in this area, such as Chardonnay, Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon are grown in the vineyard, and the latter have given excellent results ftom the viticultural and oenological point of view. Once the grapes are harvested and loaded into boxes they are sent to the Centro Enologico Regionale at Villasor, where all the stages of transformation, up to the bottling, are carried out by qualified oenologists with the very latest technology. All the Fattoria Mauritania wines are made from selected grapes that come exclusively from its own vineyards.
